When it comes to getting or renewing a mortgage, most people think of asking their bank for options, but this trend has been changing. In 2017, CMHC’s Mortgage Consumer Survey found that the industry market share for mortgage renewers using a mortgage broker grew from 26% to 35%. The broker share of refinances was at 40%, the share of recent buyers at 44%, and the share of first-time buyers at 55%.
Here are some of the reasons you should consider working with a mortgage broker:
- Mortgage brokers have access to 30+ lenders with a range of mortgage products and rates that your bank cannot always offer. By having access to various lending institutions, mortgage brokers can finance difficult deals and find solutions where banks say no.
- A mortgage broker works for you and not the bank, a broker will shop amongst different lenders and find the best product and rate that suits your needs. Meanwhile, a banker works for the bank and your options are limited to the products available at that bank.

Mississauga Food Bank is operated mainly on donations and the need for donations are increasing every year as the cost of living is on the rise and every year there is an increase in the number of people relying on the food bank, especially children and seniors. Good news is that through partnership with several businesses they are able to provide food for two meals for every $1! Our goal this year is to help them provide 10,000 meals!
